Co-op & Careers
Post-Secondary Training With Student Co-Op Programs

Post-secondary training is available in major Canadian cities. Through co-op programs you can be working in your field and making money well before you graduate. CIPH has helped organize the combined efforts of colleges and hiring companies to arrange co-op programs. In most cases schools alternate study terms with paid employment stints of 10-17 weeks at a time. These postings are generally required for achievement of a certificate or diploma.
CIPH Create Our Future
Co-Op Program Benefits All Parties
- Students gain valuable practical experience in conjunction with classroom training through paid on-the-job training. Co-op placements also often lead to full-time employment for those who take the experience seriously. Co-ops provide career-related experiences that help students understand more about careers, an opportunity to evaluate choices, increased potential to secure permanent employment and a way to defray some of your educational expenses.
- Employers can get a qualified helping hand with their workload, and contribute to the development of people with both academic training and a genuine interest in their business. Employers can also assess chemistry and capabilities and determine when the future addition of graduates as permanent employees will prove positive both for the individual and for the employer’s team.
- Colleges are able to ensure its programs are strongly related to the employment market and keep up to date with changing technologies and the needs of businesses.
- CIPH achieves its mandate to bring all parties together to the benefit of the industry and the general public.
